Public Notice For Taser Grant Application

Public Notice: The City of Clearwater Police Department (CPD) will submit a grant application for $49,118 to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, under the FY 2015 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for funding of new Taser units.

Upon the award of grant funding, the Department will purchase 38 new Tasers for its officers.

The current Tasers used by CPD officers are outdated and can no longer be serviced by the manufacturer, Taser International. CPD will be replacing the older Tasers with a new improved model that incorporates enhanced diagnostics software, advanced safety features, and automatic shut-off after 5 seconds. Clearwater aims to keep up with the new and improved technology and continue to use tools that emphasize less lethal force.

Comments or questions regarding this grant application should be directed to Janet Skinner atJanet.Skinner@MyClearwater.com no later than June 27, 2015.

This notice was posted on May 27, 2015, in accordance with grant application requirements.
